SemantyFish API
To facilitate the discovery and access of the the knowledge base that will be developed, we will implement an Application Programming Interface (API). The API will enhance the accessibility and usability of the structured data within the knowledge base. Through the API, developers, applications and other services will seamlessly interact with the RDF data. It will consist of several methods, semantically grouped into different categories facilitating their use. Compared to the existing status that offers an API only for fish names, the new API will provide access to all FishBase resources. Moreover, it will support exporting FishBase contents with respect to different formats and standards. This will allow users to collect FishBase data in their preferred format, enabling easy integration with existing systems, analysis tools and services. Just indicatively, the API will support multiple formats such as JSON, JSON-LD, XML, RDF-XML, Turtle, DwC-A, and others.
